Ferries, roads, & bridges
The vertical rocky landscape of Lofoten necessitates an array of methods for traveling inter- and intra-island. Ferries service many of the villages, and the roads wind over spans and bridges and into tunnels blasted directly through the mountains, connecting the islands with one another. Snowfall on the roads is a hazard, and the fierce and unpredictable weather makes driving dangerous for the unprepared.
